William’s love for nature began as a child, born and raised in the Upper North Shore of Sydney, Australia. His humble beginnings in the United States continued in places like Nevada and Pennsylvania, where as a young kid, he worked on his family’s dairy farm in the summer months. He relocated to New York City and spent 20+ years as a professional bartender at a renowned restaurant in SoHo. While living in Queens, NY, he volunteered for and maintained his own garden at the historic Sunnyside Gardens.
His exploration of natural systems began in 2008 in the field of permaculture where he earned his Permaculture Design Certification in Melbourne, Australia studying under Geoff Lawton and the late pioneer and “father of permaculture”, Bill Mollison. In 2009, he traveled to Tasmania, Australia to study with Bill and his wife, Lisa Mollison at their home; a sustainable permaculture compound. It was through this mentorship that deepened his understanding of how humans can thrive with very little intervention with nature.
In 2021, William’s interest in the field of permaculture further led him to study with the world’s foremost soil biologist and founder of Dr. Elaine’s™ Soil Food Web School, Dr. Elaine Ingham. Through extensive mentorship and preparation in her foundational training program, he became a certified soil lab technician.
In addition, William is a proficient designer, architect and builder of simple yet sustainable spaces such as gardens, grow boxes, and chicken coops. In his pastime, William enjoys taking seasonal survival courses with expert survivalist, Tom McElroy, and homeschooling his son. He recently launched Monroe Loft, an event rental space located in Connecticut.
